All children under 8 holding a valid DVC card are entitled to free medical care.

All children are also routinely assessed for height and weight at 2 and 4 years.

It is easy to sign your child up for his/her DVC (under 8) card, just go online:

If you yourself hold a full Medical Card, your child may therefore be entitled to a full medical card too. To apply for a full medical card for your child, you will need to source the following information:

• Photocopy of the child’s birth cert
• Child’s PPS number
• Cover letter from parent /guardian requesting to add the child to an existing Medical Card or GPV card
• The Medical Card or DVC card details of the parent/guardian
